Former PYNDA Chairman visits Plymouth University

Philip Parry, who was Chairman of the Plymouth Nautical Degree Association (PYNDA) for thirteen years between 1993 and 2006 was a guest lecturer at the International Shipping and Logistics Group‘s Visiting Speaker Programme during November.

On leaving Plymouth with a degree in Maritime Business and Maritime Law, Philip joined Ince and Co, one of the world’s most respected maritime law firms where he qualified as a solicitor. He then went on to found his own organisation, Spinnaker, a global shipping recruitment organisation.

Today, Spinnaker of which Philip is Managing Director, works closely the world’s leading shipping and trading employers to help
seek high quality staff. Spinnaker has grown to a company which employs more than 20 persons.

Philip spoke to students on the international shipping business, indicating opportunities for future graduates. He stated that in the last year he had helped place Plymouth graduates into employment and emphasised the high value and reputation of the “Plymouth degree” to the international shipping and related businesses.
